Poor quality remote play streaming - Xbox series S/X

Posting this here as there is no way to refer the issue to the Xbox product team responsible for the remote play feature.

There are numerous forum topics both here and on the wider web that show there are serious issues with the remote play feature on Xbox series S/X. Streaming games from the Xbox to a PC (Xbox App) locally over gigabit LAN is outright awful. Stream video quality is exceptionally poor & experiences frequent screen tearing / corruption on games with any kind of on-screen motion.

Numerous people (myself included) have confirmed the issue is present using setups with gigabit ethernet connectivity between the Xbox and the client (PC). Networking & hardware issues have been diagnosed & eliminated as the cause of the issue. The issue isn't intermittent or just affecting a few people - Its anyone who streams content from their Xbox Series S/X over LAN will experience these issues.

This is exceptionally frustrating for people who purchased a Xbox but didn't intend for it to be connected to a physical TV. I purchased my Xbox to sit in a network cabinet at home for my family to play from their PC or laptops - As streaming is basically broken at the moment there isn't much else I can do but connect it to a TV at this point.

My old Xbox One & PS5 manages to stream just fine so can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix this! And no I don't want a tech support call asking me to check my settings :/

    :)

    Minimum system requirements

AppsThere are a couple ways to play Xbox console games remotely:
    • Xbox app for mobile
    • Xbox app for Windows
For mobile app setup details, go to: All about the Xbox mobile appIf you don’t have the Xbox app for Windows installed, it’s free in the Microsoft Store: Get the app

Xbox consoleXbox One or later consoles need to be configured for and connected to the Xbox network.Note If you're having trouble connecting to the Xbox network, see “Get help with remote play” below.

OS version
    • Android 6.0 or later
    • iOS 13 or later
    • Windows 10/11

    • Bluetooth 4.0 and greater

Internet connection
    • 7-10 Mbps
    • Connected to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network (a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network will work but isn’t currently optimized)
    • Cellular network connectivity is also available

Controller and inputs
    • We recommend using an Xbox Wireless Controller connected via Bluetooth or a USB cable. Mouse and keyboard and touch are currently not supported for remote play gaming.
    • The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 isn't currently compatible with iOS.
Note Depending on your device manufacturer, wired controllers may or may not work with your device. For more info, see: Set up Bluetooth on your Xbox Wireless Controller

Can a Xbox X controller connect to a 360 Xbox

Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X controllers work on Xbox Series X|S, and vice versa. However, Xbox 360 is on it's own, similar to the OG Xbox.

What's cool however is if you remote stream Xbox One, One S, One X, Series S, or Series X on, say, a PC, you can plug in a 360 controller and use it on the newer generation.

But no, newer controllers aren't supported on 360.

If I buy the xbox one version of hogwarts legacy will I have to buy it again if I upgrade to series x/s?

You'll still be able to play it on the Series S/X, but the quality won't be as good as the Series S/X version.

Xbox remote play on iPad (home wifi)

I just tried the xcloud service directly from my series s and it worked absolutely flawless.

Now I am even more confused than before.

Why can I play cloud games directly from my Xbox in an astounding quality but it is not possible to remote play from Xbox to pc/ipad.

But what confuses me even more is that it works perfectly with ps remote play.

Just tested steam remote play from the PC to the iPad and that also worked wonderfully.

Maybe it's an general problem with the series s/x consoles?
