There are soooo many games on the backwards compatability list that are no longer available for purchase. PoP Sands of Time, PoP 2008, Mortal Kombat vs. DCU, SOULCALIBUR II HD, and countless more. Why???? Microsoft is a billion dollar company that can't even keep it's backlog of games from previous generations. Why does Steam AND Epic and GOG do a better job with backwards compatability than Xbox. I got my Series S because there was no Series X available and I actually wanted my games digitally. But this store is atrocious with so many popular games being not being availble digitally. WHY?

The availability of games in the Microsoft Store does not depend entirely on Microsoft, it also depends on the publisher of each game and the rights and licensing agreements between them, unfortunately this type of information is not made public.

There is no schedule or estimated dates for when certain GTs will become available again. GTs are not an on-demand service. They will be available when they are available.

I talked to someone over at xbox twitter support and they stated that it can be opened up if the person with the tag changes it to something else, so that is not true?

no they cannot free up a gamer tag, and all new tags have the numbers

No. There is no way to request a gamertag. The gamertag system is in use on other Microsoft services as well so even if it isn't in use on the 360, it could still be in use elsewhere.
