Please Make Managing Family Groups More Intuitive

I'm a huge fan of XBOX. I've owned multiple of each console since the original XBOX and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

However, one thing that has never seemed to improve are the family settings, specifically family management.

In our household, we have 6 XBOX One Consoles. One for myself, one for each of my my two son, one for my girlfriend and another for her son. We also have an extra that guests can play on especially when we have lots of sleepovers and parties for the boys and their friends. This is all fine and dandy, except for the fact that there is no intuitive way to share XBOX Live with multiple family members.

I am well aware that we can assign one console as the "home" console and log into another and "share" the subscription between the two that way. However, that is a fairly cumbersome workaround, and not a true solution. As, the XBOX that has the "Home" assignment must be logged in as the "home" user in order to download game pass. IF Johnny has the subscription, and marks Jacob's XBOX as his home, logs into Johnny's own console to play, Jacob cannot then download any games on his console via the Game Pass that Johnny hasn't logged in and selected on that console. So, in order to manage this, we must have at minimum 3 subscriptions managed each across a pair of consoles. If nothing else, this is a bit of an inconvenience trying to make sure that we log in and out appropriately if one person wants to download a game, but must wait for the authorization from the "home" user before doing so.

Example: Number is console, letter is Owner.

Console 1 - Owner A. Marked as Owner B's Home Console. Requires Owner B's Approval to download games. Owner B has sub.
Console 2 - Owner B. Not a home console, Owner B has full access to download and install as needed.

Console 3 - Owner C. Marked as Owner D's Home Console. Requires Owner D's Approval to download games. Owner D has sub.
Console 4 - Owner D. Not a home console, Owner D has full access to download and install as needed.

Console 5 - Owner E. Marked as Owner F's Home Console. Requires Owner F's Approval to download games. Owner F has sub.
Console 6 - Owner F. Not a home console, Owner F has full access to download and install as needed.

In order for each member of our family to have the full experience, we have to carry at least 5 subscriptions, one for each of the household members, and we can manage logging in and out as needed on the spare console.

An additional layer of complexity is added when we now have three of the five accounts as child accounts. Specifically, When a child account needs a new credit card assigned as one expires for a subscription, or wants to make a purchase, the message "We can't send a request for this one". I can't simply manage that subscription from the parent account. I also can't manage that subscription from a computer using the child's login. No, instead I must log in on that child's console, navigate to the purchase, and then grant the request in-person on the spot. This is unnecessarily convoluted.

Requests and/or Suggestions for a more pleasant user experience:

    1. Allow for family members to be included in XBOX Live Ultimate Accounts under one primary account. I should be able to delegate family access to my subscriptions using the other family members' emails/profiles.
      1. This is especially true for managed family accounts. I should be able to grant/deny access to shared benefits of Live Ultimate content to my entire family under the umbrella of one subscription. Tiered pricing here can be acceptable, maybe $5.00 per month per managed family member. Whatever the analysts come up with, but the idea is simple enough. But, I should not have to manage 5 different subscriptions for 5 different users, all of which must be logged in uniquely to make any sort of changes.
      2. This can so easily be streamlined into a modular subscription package, based on the managing parental account(s), and invoiced as one singular charge rather than trying to track 5 separate $14.99 charges every month.
    2. All purchases should be able to be allowed or rejected via request to the parents' email/xbox/Family Safety app. There's no reasonable justification for why this can't be managed remotely when so many other things can be. If the first suggestion is taken into consideration, then this no longer is applicable for subscription requests, as the parent can already manage that from the parent end, and only then is relevant for a la carte purchases.
    3. All purchases and subscriptions should be manageable from the parent(s)' account(s). There should be an intuitive way for parents to see and manage each subscription and purchase for all accounts in the family group and for individual accounts without the need to log in and out of each individual account.
      1. Parents should be able to initiate refunds, stop or start subscriptions within their own account space.
This may fall entirely on deaf ears, but I am skeptical that we're the only family with more than one console in the house and this solution would make the whole suite of products so much more intuitive for the customer. There doesn't even necessarily need to be a scalable discount model. I personally would be much more satisfied paying one $75 monthly expense as opposed to 5 separate $15 expenses. That can kind of squash the argument of abuse of a family system, if there's no financial incentive to do so. My example may be more extreme with the number of people we have, as I sit down to do my monthly budget and I have to scour my bank statements to find all of the individual "MICROSOFT CORPORATION" line items I would be grateful for only needing to verify one.

    :)

Unable to access xbox account settings on xbox.com

are the affected accounts Child accounts?

if the date of birth associated with these accounts makes them under 18 years old you will need to get an adult to make a Family Group, add the affected Child accounts to the Family Group then change the privacy settings.

Great - now I can't see what my friends are doing while I wait for game invites. Just how Microsoft managed to make the UI more counter-intuitive is truly beyond me...

I am trying to play mycareer on NBA 2K23 but it says I need to change a setting for my child account, however I am unsure which setting I need to change.

Thank you so much for that, are you in a family group? If yes, make sure to ask for the adult account or the organizer account in managing the settings.
