Please Help.

Recently my Xbox One Special Edition Covert Forces Wireless Controller broke. Since this controller was no longer functioning I decided to buy a new one. So I went to Walmart and bought a white Xbox One S controller for 46$. After one day of use, the controller
would no longer detect my headset, I thought my headset was broken so I got my phone and plugged in the headset I then recorded a video whilst moving the wire everywhere and my voice was clear and the audio was fine. Because of this, I concluded that it was
the controller that was not functioning and that the headphone jack was probably broken. After concluding this I went to Walmart returned the controller and bought a new one. This time I bought a red wireless controller. Just like the last controller for the
first day it was working fine. The audio would work for my whole session of gaming instead of stopping every 30 minutes or so then coming back after I moved the controller a bit. But then the next day just like the white controller the headset would no longer
get detected by the controller. Once again I plugged in my headset to my phone and recorded a video. The mic and audio were completely fine but for some reason, my controller would not detect my headset. I doubt I got 2 bad controllers in a row so that is
why I am asking the community for help. Any type of advice is appreciated.

P.S (I am going to return the red controller and buy a new one and keep the post updated on the condition of the controller.)

I have just set up my xbox one and the sound doesn't sound right. I have it on a 5.1 dolby system it's really odd on call of duty advanced warfare the centre speaker works during cinematic scenes but has no volume during game play it sounds ok and the gun and voice effects come mainly from the front two speakers but that can't be right????

Has anyone else got call of duty set up on 5.1 dolby system?

i dont have cod..

first i would go into settings and controller and update it.. (idk why) but somewhere along the line an update for headsets had something with dolby 5.1 in it.

i dont have cod so i cant say how my 5.1 sound bar works but the way i recall it is.. the developer sets the standard or output channels.. this is why forza worked next to polk audio to "dial in sound" its not really a microsoft thing as much as cod development.

i would check settings on xb1 to see if it is in dolby 5.1 or stereo
i would also check the settings in game to seewhat they are.

depending on your sound bar check and see i fit has a setting for analog or coax it may also have different modes.. game,movie,stereo,cinamatic each one does alter how sound is projected

 

So from the looks of everything..... you forgot to update the controller while the head set was plugged in . Brand new controllers need updats to have the correct drivers to work with the headset

 

Should I try updating the controller now that the headset is not getting detected?

Thanks for reaching out to us! So far three different controllers had worked for a day, more or less before not detecting the headset, correct? It is a NUBWO stereo headset (3rd party) with an Xbox standard controller. I understand that the headset works
on another device but try another headset or even a cheap pair of headphones on the controller to check the port.

Also, yes it is best to update the controller as well.
Update your controller by using the Xbox Accessories app:

1. Get the app from Microsoft Windows 10 by searching for "Xbox Accessories."
2. Launch the Xbox Accessories app.
3. Connect your Xbox One Wireless Controller by using a USB cable or the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.
   
4. Note You'll be prompted to update to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition if you haven't yet done so.
5. When the controller is connected, you'll see the message “Update Required” if an update is mandatory. Install the update.

I have tried using my brother's new 300$ Beats Headphones and the same issue appears to be happening. Either I am very unlucky and got 2 defective controllers or I need to update the controllers. Also on the Covert Forces Controller the power supply malfunctioned
not the headphone jack I never had a problem using the NUBWO headset on that controller. Oh and I tried the update directions it says that there is no update available.

Thank you for keeping us updated with your situation. Sounds like the headset plug could be damaging the controllers headset port.

For now, I recommend contacting the manufacture and see if the headset needs an update, also check out

Connecting a compatible headset to Xbox One and see if the headset is compatible.
