Please help-Xbox one 1tb black screen purchased external hard drive to download software

Hi Ive recently purchased a 1TB external hd 3.0 and when it is plugged in I get a message on the screen saying external storage ready, then when im installing a game to the external hard drive it keeps saying installation stopped then it comes back up with
external storage ready again this happens every 40 seconds or so could someone please help

Hi Jiza1981, you can generally buy cheap cables over eBay.

Kotaku did a great post some time ago regarding drives that will work seamlessly with the Xbox One. I've yet to get a hard drive for my Xbox One but I'm almost out of room (Microsoft just love giving me games! ) so it's time to get one I think!

Anyway, without linking anyone to anything external to this website, Kotaku recommended the following external hard drives;

1TB HGST Touro S 7200rpm Portable External Hard Drive

WD My Passport 1TB Portable External Hard Drive Storage USB 3.0 Black

WD My Book 4 TB USB 3.0 Hard Drive with Backup

I've never used that Touro brand so I can't comment on them but I've had good experiences with Western Digital and their external hard drive range. Nice and sturdy units!

Will smaller external hard drives be supported by Xbox One? Like 500gb-1tb?

Nevermind.

I took the SSHD out of the enclosure and replaced the hard drive in my PS4 (increasing it's capacity from 500GB to 1TB). Then I took the 1TB external hard drive from my PS4 and made it the external hard drive for my Xbox and no longer have the issue.

It seems it was either the SSHD or the enclosure that didn't seem to quite work right as an external hard drive on the Xbox. Either way problem solved.
