Please Help a mum with no knowledge out - Multiplayer games

Hi, ive two children, two controllers, and one series s console. Please can someone advise me how they play multiplayer games without me having to go and buy a second console. So far fifa and minecraft are the only games they can play together. The marvel
game doesnt seem to work as a two player game. Please can someone tell me What i need to be looking for when looking at games to buy. Some say couch co-op which i thought was the right thing but then in brackets it says xbox live. I didnt really want them
playing online with other people yet. Im so confused.

If you don't want the monthly costs, they do not need Xbox Live to play couch co-op on the same system. Depending on their ages, every Lego game out there is couch co-op. They are all fine for kids. Also for kids, there's also the Overcooked games, Castle
Crashers, Cuphead, Plants vs Zombies, and Human Fall Flat.

But if you're fine with the monthly fee, then you cannot go wrong with Game Pass Ultimate. It includes Xbox Live and it also gives them access to a list of over 350 games to play on the system. If anything, you can try it. I believe there's a special going
right now for 3-months worth for just $1 a month. You could always cancel at that point, if it's not worth it to you. Half of the games I mentioned up there are included in Game Pass.

Hi sorry for being a bit thick, but isnt xbox live going to cost me per month? I was hoping to avoid monthly costs as they are sat next to each other... never had these technical issues with the sega megadrive haha!

There are two teirs to Xbox live. Silver, which is free and lets you save game play progression and then there is Gold, which is a paid perscription that is required to play online with other players. Not required for what you want them to do.

Some games require Xbox live simply to save game progression and doesn’t always mean multi-player. As long as your childrens accounts are set not to be able to play online multiplayer then you should not need to worry.
