playing xbox game pass games on steam

I want to download mods for a game named Descenders, and from what i can find you can do it only from the steam virsion.

i have the game through game pass.

is there any way to link the xbox account and the steam one, and be able to download Descenders with steam without paying? is steam going to see the game pass and let me download it through steam?

They are playing on PC as well and with Game Pass Ultimate. I have Game Pass Ultimate and the game downloaded but cannot play with them because I did not download through the Microsoft Store?

As far as I am aware, there is no cross platform play between Steam and Xbox when it comes to Ark, so your Steam version cannot communicate with their Game Pass version of the game. You would have to download the Game Pass version of the game and start fresh
there in order to play with other people using the Game Pass version.

Glad you found a fix there. If you've got it on Game Pass then keep playing that for now. But if you want to buy it, I suggest Steam.

Would I need to buy the game on Steam? I already have the game through the game pass. What is the difference between steam game and game pass?

are you playing the Windows store/Game Pass version or Steam? It has to be a Windows store/Xbox compatible game

No, steam does not support game pass, and if it did, Xbox games are encrypted
