Playing Xbox Game Pass games offline?

Hi gang.

I'm going to be without internet for at least a few days, and was wondering whether I'll still be able to play games I've downloaded through Game Pass in offline mode? I've set my account to "Home console".

I'm seeing mixed messages saying that I can, for up to 30 days before I have to "check-in" again. But others have said they can't access their games without internet.

Any help would be great

(Most games available in the Xbox Game Pass PC Games plan on your Windows 10 device support offline play but check the details of the game to make sure yours is supported. Games from the Xbox Game Pass library can be played while the PC is offline,but
for no more than 30 days before the PC must reconnect to the internet to verify an active subscription. Most games with a campaign mode will be playable offline, but games with network co-op or multiplayer features will not work while
you’re offline. While playing offline, some features, such as the ability to purchase additional items, will not be available.)

Do you have this game via Game Pass? The game itself does support offline play. On PC I assume you've followed these instructions https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/gaming-on-windows/play-games-offline-windows-10

Where did you read in the terms of service that you can play Game Pass Games offline?

The closest thing I read about
offline play on Game Pass in this FAQ. Where it says that not all games allow offline play, and for those that allow offline play, you can only play them offline for 30 days.

As GamePass is a "rental" subscription, the games have to check at least every month if your subscription is still active and valid.

Otherwise you could join Game Pass, download all the games, set your console offline, and cancel the subscription. And since the console can't check if your subscription is still active, the console assumes that the subscription ran out, if it is offline
for a certain amount of time.

If you are in your home xbox, you can even play game pass games offline!

For the games you own, you have just put your account as the main one on the console (Home Console), but for Game Pass games you will always need an internet connection.

That's not entirely accurate. Offline Game Pass games can be played offline providing you have set your console offline beforehand (in the same way that Offline PC Game Pass Games can be played Offline for up to 30 days). However, I will note that this feature has been problematic this year and I have seen reports of it no longer working

I found this quote back from 2017 when GP started, which is attributed to Mike Nichols, the CMO of XBox at the time:

"Once a game is downloaded from the Xbox Game Pass catalog to your Xbox One, you can play the game offline so there’s no 'always-online requirement,'" Nichols tells me"
