Playing offline on a banned console

I purchased an xbox one for my spare room knowing the console was banned. But this did not matter to me as i only play offline using discs.

But it appears i can not use it offline until the console is registered with me as a user, but to do this you have to be online but the console will not go online as it is banned. I seem to be in a no win situation and very unfair as the console states it is banned from xbox live only.

any ideas would be grateful as Microsoft will not accept any appeals from a banned console

You always have to do a day one patch and register the console online for warranty purposes.

If you hadn't reset the console you could've used it

You are talking about an old proccess that hasn't been done in over a decade

Unfortunately you can't play games offline without going online first which the console is banned from. My best advice is return it and get your money back.

Nope if they did a factory reset to base then you need to activate you should address the issue with the seller

My issue is in fact not the ban. The message on the dash states it is banned from using xbox live I do not want to lift the ban i just want to play my games offline. What happened to the days when you could put a game disc in the drive and away you go with no need for internet if it was not required. Why would you want a perfectly good working console to be scrapped ?
