Playing multiplayer local will not allow me to use guest account on back comp game

My son just used birthday money to purchase Ghostbusters Sanctum of Slime. Its a backwards comp game on our xbox one. When we try to play multiplayer, we choose local and it asks us to add another player. You do that and it asks to download another microsoft
profile. We don't have another microsoft profile so I login a guest account on the xbox one. I cannot use that guest profile so my son and I can play together. It appears that the only way to play locally with more than one player is to have multiple accounts?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Local multiplayer on BC Xbox 360 games.

I can't seem to find a method that allows me to use a guest account if my friends or family wish to play local split-screen multiplayer on BC Xbox 360 games. Is this an oversight or am I expected to create three guest accounts just so my friends and family
can play?

Play against other profiles

Are you trying to play online multiplayer?

If so you can't use offline profiles. Your son and wife would need to either play with their own gold profiles or as guests.

On not familiar with whatever game you are trying but it would need a local only multiplayer mode that is separate from the online multiplayer for local accounts to work

Have you tried to login to the guest account through the Xbox 360 emulator? pressing both the menu buttons in at the same time from either controller will bring up the xbox 360 guide doing that with the second controller might allow you to sign in as a guest.

If not then it could be game specific I tried to assign player 2 on my Xbox One as the guest for NBA: Jam On Fire Edition and Gears of War 3. On NBA: Jam OFE it would not allow me at all to assign player 2 as a guest but would still allow the second controller
to play just with no account or guest, On GoW 3 it did but I had to do it in-game by pressing the Y button and then assigning player 2 as guest then it took me back to the main menu and I had to press start on player 1 and player 2 showed up as my guest with
the usual [1].

Thanks for your post. I understand you are attempting to play local multiplayer in your game King of Fighters 98. In order for your console to allow for two players, you must add a separate or guest account to be used by the second player. To use a guest,
check out this article: Set up an
Xbox One Guest Account; and to use a separate account:
Add a Microsoft Account on Xbox One.

some onlone games dont offer the chance to pick a guest. You can try using another gamertag though off xbox live to play local. The game is 1-4 players, so signing in to any other gamertags should allow you to play multiplayer

The "guest" account feature doesn't actually create any gamertags, it just allows friends to play alongside you. From the game's multiplayer select screen, there should be an option to plays as "guest".
