Playing Minecraft online with friends

I've been trying to play Minecraft online with my friends for the past little while now but I keep getting the same message. I play on Nintendo Switch.

When I go to the "Friends" tab in Minecraft for Nintendo Switch, it says:

You cannot play online multiplayer because of how your Microsoft Account is set up. Please ensure your online safety settings allow Multiplayer. See instructions for changing these settings at aka.ms/MCMultiplayerHelp.

I went to the website provided and it didn't help, I looked at other websites and it didn't help. I've also never had this problem before. Microsoft Families and Child Accounts were brought up multiple times and I've changed the age on my Microsoft account but it didn't help. I don't want to be in a family either. I'm in a family alone by myself and I don't want to be. I really just want to play Minecraft. Can anyone help? All I want is to play online with my friends and not be in a weird family by myself. Thanks.

I am considering to buy to my daughter Minecraft to play online with her friends but I am not sure which platform to choose. Most of her friends playing Minecraft on Windows 10 machines. Can Xbox player play Minecraft online with Win 10 players together

I am sorry to hear that.

You can enable the multiplayer for Minecraft from the Xbox Family Settings app on your mobile device.

You can find the settings by clicking on your Account Name > Settings (The cog on the top right) > Multiplayer > Allow

Then, on the same window, under Cross-play:

Allow Crossplay

Allow Communication with Friends (or don't, it's up to your preference)

On the bottom of the page, Clubs > Allow (For Minecraft Realms).
