    I want to Buy a game that my daughter and her boyfriend can play together. I know that some games support two players playing together on one console and I know some games support playing online together. With games that support both of these features, can
    I have two people in one house with two remotes playing along with a third or fourth person playing online? In other words can I have a combination of in person and online people play the game? Thanks!!!

    You would have to play a game that supports local co-op. Both of those games have online co-op, but not local.

    Some games cannot be played locally. You will have to play those games with online players.

    I also started playing with my cousins, it was a lot of fun. But I think due to technology and the internet it ended up distancing local co-ops from the online co-ops.

    There are still many games that allow you to play with multiple people locally (overcooked you can play with 4 people).

    And it's not Xbox's discretion, it's up to the game developer to think your game is a local co-op game or offline solo or online solo and so on.
