Playing a game I own as disc on pc

When gears 5 first released, I pre ordered it because I am a big fan of the franchise. I recently got a new pc and I saw that I could play gears 5 on here but I got the disc version, the pc is a upgrade from the Xbox one I have because its just the first one. I can't use the disc on the pc because I heard that it won't read the disc properly, but I don't want to buy the same game I already own again.

What can I do?

Congrats on the new PC. You mentioned you're trying to play the disc version of Gears 5 on your new PC but you have the disc. I'm assuming you're talking about the physical Xbox One copy of the game since I don't believe it came out physically for PC.

While you cannot use your physical copy of Gears 5 on your PC, you have few options.

1. You can purchase the game again on PC via the Microsoft Store or the Xbox app

2. That would be because It's an Xbox One disc, and they only work on Xbox One's and so your PC will not recognize the disc. If it is a play anywhere title you will need to own it digitally to be able to play across PC (Windows 10) and Xbox One.

If you want a disc copy of the game that will work on your PC you will need to purchase a disc for PC and make sure that your PC meets the requirements of the game.

To play this game on PC you need to own the digital version or be signed up for Game Pass.

If you have the game on disc you won't be able to play on PC for free.

Since you own it on disc, you would need the disc in the drive (on the console) in order to play it. You would have been able to download and play on the PC because of Game Pass.

If there a PC version of the game available through the Microsoft Store or if you own it and its a play anywhere title and its available to be played then yes.

Simply putting a disc in the PC? Then no, lol.
