Player Rep

I don't think the rep system is useful at all. My rep is "damaged" because of bad reports from kids who constantly messed me to come play something when I was busy, so I end up with a bad rep over it.

Gaming rep helps people know whether it is a good idea to play with you. People with bad rep are known to quit or spam during online matches or send you abusive messages when you beat them. People with good rep are known to be very sporting. You are able
to set people as avoid player so that you don't have to face them again. People may have already submitted player reviews about you so you should check your gamer profile to see how other xbox live players view you.

Be advised that on more personalised, one-on-one style competitive games (like Street Fighter for example), players will file negative reviews or even complaints just for losing, even though everything that happened in that match was legitimate, and stored
replays would prove as much. Some games now have icons and percentages to show how much some players have 'dropped' or 'pulled' (literally yanking the ethernet cable out) to quit early to try avoiding a recorded loss. Ideally these people would be removed
from XBL, as it does spoil the game experience and distort various server details, but realistically, some of these people have long careers on there. However, once they are known on that tag for this type of behaviour, and/or abusive messages, the various
related communities will generally ostracise them, so that they struggle to get games.

I agree with the poster above that those on minus 5 stars must be doing something seriously wrong, if they have been on there for a while and have that status, and not just received a few bad marks for actually playing well.
