Play interrupted by “certain features require a connection to Xbox network.”

My son got NBA 2k23 two weeks ago for his birthday. He was a able to use My Player until a few days ago; now when playing My Player, he is interrupted by a message that states: “Certain features require a connection to Xbox network. Please check cables and configuration.” The Xbox is connected to our modem with a cable, not wireless. We tried re-starting the game, re-starting the console, shutting-down the console and unplugging it from the power source and then re-starting. Nothing worked. I have spent so much time trying to figure out what the problem is. Help me, please!

Thank you for the response. If I do that, is there a risk of losing the “my player” my son has built?

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

To fix this, you may need to perform an extended powercycle and reset your network hardware by following the steps below accordingly:

1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the router, modem, or gateway for 5 minutes. If you have a router and a modem, unplug the power cable from both devices.

2. Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds or until it turns off then wait for 2 minutes before turning it on again.

3. After 5 minutes, plug the modem or gateway in first, and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

4. If you are using a router, plug in the router and wait for all the lights to return to their normal state.

More than likely it will require you to attempt to connect to the internet on setup

But, as the Microsoft VP said you can play single player games that don't require an internet connection just fine if you network is interrupted or not present. You can still play some games and access the console but you just wont be able to access any
of the online features just like how it is now for the 360

I'm having the same problem with NBA2K15. It got up to 76% and then it says "certain features require a connection to Xbox Live. Please check your network cables and configuration." But my network is fine. Anyone got any answers?

Well, I made it one day before the problem started up again. I was playing this morning and it happened twice. I received the error: "Certain features require a connection to Xbox Live. Please check your network cables and configuration."
