    Picture degradation with Xbox One Live TV


    Soooo, after over 3 months I have just started to watch TV through the Xbox due to the 50mhz update.

    Sadly, I feel like I have come full circle, as I have again disconnected TV through the X1, but this time due to awful picture quality. When sky is passed through the Xbox, the picture is significantly worse. The image is much darker and overall very drab.
    I have gone through the X1 picture setup but this doesn't improve the TV image at all. Why would I choose to degrade a 52" plasma by passing it through the Xbox One? Again, I really cant believe this is the main selling point of the console, why pay £400+
    to turn your £1500 TV into a substandard £300 TV?

    Is anyone else having problems? Are you happy with the picture quality? Can anybody suggest a way of correcting this issue?

    Well said. I also picked Xbox one over PS4 because of TV integration.

    I didn't mind putting up with the slight degradation in picture quality, but the stuttering after NXOE is unacceptable.

    HDMI HAS POOR PICTURE QUALITY

    With Overlay mode I am also seeing a significant degradation of Tivo's television picture quality using the supplied Xbox One HDMI cable (putting the Xbox One between Tivo and TV). I am reusing my pre-existing cable in the XBONE's HDMI Out.

    Is this hardware and unavoidable degradation due to the daisy-chaining OR is this a fixable software issue? As-is I won't be using this and must go back to separate inputs. :-(

    Live TV input to XBOX ONE looks darker than expected.

    I'm noticing my Cable is darker (crushed blacks) and the picture quality is degraded (more pixelated, improper color gamut) when plugging my X1 Comcast cable box directly into the Xbox one when compared to just plugging in my cable box directly to the TV.

    The Xbox one at least for the X1 cable box is not correctly passing through the cable it is somehow degrading the signal.

    I agree. The picture being passed through the TV app is considerably lesser quality coming out the other end. Blacks are horrible and the picture is fuzzy while lacking HD quality.

    It is so easy to see. Plug the Dish Network directly in and the picture is great. Plug the Dish Network into the Xbone and picture is degraded.

    Just one more reason why I (you) shouldn't run my TV HD receiver through the Xbone!

    having this same exact issue. I've just about given up trying to get the TV app to work properly. Picture is clearly degraded upon passing thru the xbox. MS really needs to get on this.
