physical disc license issue - can i transfer license to download

Try performing the hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart
the console. Many times it is best to leave it unplugged longer.

Unfortunately, the only way to obtain a digital license for the game is to buy it from the Xbox Store. It cannot be removed from the disc, so to speak, because if you decided to sell the disc in the future, the purchaser could not install it without having
it on there. Have you checked the disc for any scratches, smudges?

Was the disc bought new or used? If it's new, EA may be able to help you replace it for free through its warranty program.

You have to have the physical Disk if you don't buy the digital version of the game.

If it does it again I would do a Power Cycle and see if that helps.

If you are still having problems I would check with the store you purchased it from. You might need to exchange the disk.

Have you tried power cycling or clearing the MAC address? Do other discs work? Have you made any changes to the console like removed yourself from being the home xbox account ?

When you play a game installed from a physical disc you need to have the disc inserted to start the game. So for digital, you can insert the disc so would need a digital license. At the moment it is not possible to transfer physical to digital licenses.
