    Phone number is tied to another Microsoft account


    I'm currently trying to update the security information for my current email in order to have a two-step authentication, of which is required to update info on another email that is tied to my Xbox live account. Upon trying to update my number, I received the message, "This phone number has already been taken." None of my accounts have this number tied to them, and is tied to accounts from the past owner of this number. This has been an issue with all my Microsoft accounts, since the past owner did not alter their info. How do I recover a number that is mine, while it is tied to a stranger's account?

    oh and yeah i also have the old phone number that is on the microsoft account still tied as a secondary number on my gmail account, that also being the original gmail of the microsoft account, there is no way that is not enough proof.

    Hi there,

    Regrettably, it is not possible to re-associate a Gamertag with another Microsoft Account. You can

    create an alias    , but ultimately, it will still be tied to the original account.

    The only solution is to create a new account for yourself, and use that, moving forward.

    you don’t understand me, they stole my account from me and unlinked my phone number and mail and tied another mail that I don’t know, but my mail was not hacked, this mail has a receipt for buying an account from the official site
