Phone Number Authenticator is not securing my account but keeping me out.

We would like to let you know that no one here in Microsoft Community sends out code for any phone number or email address shared to the public. We have been encouraging everyone not to share email address, full name, complete home address, and phone number, for their protection and security.

Should you mean you are trying to verify your identity by sending verification code to your phone number through text and you were not receiving it. You may try to restart your phone, turn on airplane mode and turn it off after 3 seconds, send text to yourself or ask someone you know to text your number.

What we can do here is to first understand the sign in issue you are encountering before we move on and use the different account for accessing Microsoft Services. We know how important it is for you to access the account especially it is associated with your games. Just to set your expectations, the Microsoft account is managed by a fully automated server and we don't have manual access to it. Microsoft takes the security and privacy of our customers very seriously. We are committed to protecting your personal information, and the careful account recovery process is designed to protect you from possible malicious activity. Please allow me to do the best I can to help you recover your account.

Security information like adding phone number, secondary email address, authentication code, recovery code, and turning on two step verification is very important for a Microsoft account recovery and access. The lesser security information you added to your account the slimmer the chance of you accessing and recovering the account. Adding security information, verification and access to the account is only possible with the account owner.

I am not getting the code the that should be sent to my text anymore and so I can not access my account at all. I had to make a new one just get in contact with support and they have done nothing but run me in circles. The only thing I want is to get my account back and for some reason this is almost impossible for you people to fix.

Based on your description, you have been using this method of authentication where you can generate code through the phone and send the code as text. May we ask what service/app is this?

There are several ways to secure a Microsoft account however, if you were signed out after you change your password, you can try to use other security methods you have with your Microsoft account. Did you add a phone number or secondary email in your account?

That's weird, or maybe I wasn't affected by the long wait, as I had multiple security information in my account (two additional email addresses and a landline phone number).

So maybe when I changed my cellphone number, I had enough other security proofs including the Authenticator App to fall back on when I had to authenticate ownership of my account.
