Permanent Ban

Hello,

I am at a complete loss. My 12 year old son has an Xbox. He plays the typical games with his friends and it's 85% with us in ear shot. He can get excited and trash talk like the rest of his peers. But he knows not to swear, the worse I hear him say is "doodoo" and calling people a bot and any banter is age-appropriate and clean. When he is with younger kids, he reigns in the talk knowing they are a bit younger than him. He has had no enforcement warnings, temporary suspensions or anything. Last night, I get an email that he is permanently banned. It's seriously come out of nowhere. We've reviewed the Xbox code of conduct with him and I honestly believe him that he would never cross that line, especially in a way that would lead to a permanent ban. We've asked that he be upfront with us about his actions, wondering if there was ever a time he crossed a line and he swears he didn't. Again, I hear him game and while he's excited and "trash" talking, none of it ever comes close to crossing the lines outlined in Xbox's code of play.

My son says there are times that hackers can get into a profile and cause issues, or make enough fake complaints against a person to cause such a ban. I have no idea if that's a real thing, but it's as believable as any other explanation at this point.

The ban says it's for communication. There appears to be no option for a review, given it's permanent? If he's crossed a line, I fully support that the consequences need to be put in action. I would like to directly communicate with someone on the enforcement team to understand the reasons for this ban, and see if it's somehow a mistake. Shouldn't there be warnings first, especially for kids who are trying to figure out where the lines are and may have just crossed over it a bit?

It took numerous attempts to contact Xbox support to see if they could help me navigate the website to contact the enforcement team. We went through the usual route, but it lead me to dead ends as I guess there is no option for a review when it's permanent. I was advised to submit a question through this forum by the Xbox support team as another option, and was told the enforcement team would see my post and reach out through this forum. I really hope this is the case. We have a son who is heartbroken and not sure how this all happened. We are just looking for answers or further avenues to pursue this. It's a very strong and final blow with seemingly no dialogue that he can learn from. I completely support monitoring for safe and inclusive play on Xbox. Such an abrupt and final and decision such as this does not provide any satisfactory explanation so that both the child and the family can learn from it with full understanding. If the situation remains, we will have learned our lesson; why bother supporting Xbox when it comes to future gaming options for kids when the rug can be pulled out from under us with no explanation to learn from.
