    Performance differences remote play vs cloud gaming.


    I constantly test out XBOX cloud gaming and the remote play features on my iPhone and iPad. Both tested on home wifi and cellular consistently.

    Remote play is preferred when at home on wifi. The controller still has input lag and visual tearing along with pixilation issues but overall best performance on home wifi.

    Cloud gaming has the overall most consistent visual performance I feel like but the input delay and lag make many games very unplayable. Just not able to react to anything quick enough. I definitely don’t test it with any type of multiplayer just mainly games like Fallout 76 and Skyrim along with Minecraft Dungeons which is actually the best performing game I’ve played on it.

    Remote play somehow feels to be more responsive over cellular but the visuals go to crap very fast if moving around quickly. Not sure why the input lag is less here though since cloud is off a server.

    Overall impressed that this is now a thing and will be the future of gaming. Can’t wait for the bugs and issues to be worked out.

    That's for all games. Cloud gaming and remote play are 2 different things. For cloud gaming the games have to be on Game Pass Ultimate. Remote play is just a way to connect you to your console, so you would be able to access almost everything you can your console normally.

    Mind you authentication isn't the same as cloud

    You go thru a server for cliud

    Xbox remote play let's you sign into your xbox from anywhere lte wifi etc by logining into xbox services to provde remote access



    Vs a console in cloud which is xcloud which requires a subscription

    Why is there an xbox companion app and an xbox app for PC? Just put all the features in one app.

    Two different things one companion app is a front end to your xbox for remote play

    Xbox app is storefront for pc and remote play and cloud play

    Are you able to test with a different mobile phone just to isolate a bit more the issue?

    I found strange that both remote play and cloud gaming doesn't work in your phone (they're different services)
