Perfect circle scratch and disc unreadable

I was playing Gta V earlier when suddenly the game crashes and I'm brought back to the dashboard. I reopen the game and while its loading I can hear the disc stop spinning and the game crashes again. I take out the disc and clean it but same thing happens
again. I get the disc, shine it from the sunlight and notice a faint thin circle around my disc. The scratch is not deep but halfway around the scratch it stops for about an inch and resumes. Also the front and back don't fully touch. Its located, from top
to middle, about 1/4 of its way. This is my only disc with it. I think I also nudged my Xbox barely while I was playing. So I do the toothpaste trick, wash it off with water but when I open it, it now says disc unreadable. I tested my other games but its only
Gta V. I heard you can go to any dvd store and get it fixed for $3-$5, if so would EB Games do it since their the closest dvd store near me? But first I want to know other ways to fix it.

In addition, do not move the console when it is on and a disc is in the drive, as this will scratch your discs. If after all the above it's still scratching discs, there is likely an issue with the console and you should call Xbox Support at 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

Any store that has a disc buffing machine should take care of it for you. I advise against using home remedies as you can cause even more damage to the disc.

Mister Cerb, his issue was that his console was moved while the disc was in use and it caused damage.

 

The disc is no longer unreadable after cleaning it with water however the scratch is still there and it still crashes. I'm looking for some home remedies that are cheap and easy before I go to a store. Also I heard stores can fail to buff your disc and it
will still crash, what would I do then? Would I have to wait till summer is over, back to school, then ask a friend for the game to install it? However most of them have it on PS3, dont have it, have it on demand, or probably wont give it.

 

From my experience, it's cost me $2-$3 to have a disc buffed. I took in a disc that was pretty much destroyed. It was a copy of "New Super Mario Bros. Wii". Completely unreadable. They buffed it. It now works like a champ.
