PC Xbox app no longer sends Audio to Party chat.

After the most recent Xbox app update (Installed on to home system on Tuesday 5/20/2025) party chat functionality no longer works properly.

When in party chat audio input is not sent to chat.

Audio output is unaffected

Tested this with multiple microphones, all drivers are up to date.

Headset Mic and Yeti Nano mics were tested in multiple ports and in Multiple apps (discord, Zoom, etc)

Problem Isolated to Xbox App and Game Bar

Checked whether mics were being detected by Xbox app at all.

Went to settings > Audio > Input and swapped between different audio input options

Both mics showed to be detected and audio being received in settings window.

Issue occurs specifically when audio is being sent to party.

Uninstalled and Reinstalled all Xbox related Apps from system. Problem persists.

None of this has worked. Did not have any issues until I updated the Xbox app about two days ago. When checking on privacy settings for the mic it does not even show that the system is currently using my microphone when I am in a party. Microphone works in every other app I have for communication.

Please try to follow these steps. Make sure to close any games and applications before proceeding.

Ensure that you are on the most recent version of the Xbox app

Microsoft Store app > Downloads > Get updates/Update all

Ensure that you have updated your PC to the most recent version of Windows, including optional updates

PC Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates > Install

Sign Out of Your Accounts (Xbox App and Microsoft Store App):

Open the Microsoft Store by pressing Windows Key + S, typing Microsoft Store, and selecting App Settings.

Click on Repair and then Reset the app.

Repeat the same process for the Xbox App and the Game Bar App

Restart Your Device:

After repairing and resetting both apps, restart your device.

Sign back into both the Xbox App and the Microsoft Store using the same email.

the double audio im hearing is coming from the companion app on my pc that im using to stream from my xbox. its not from streamlabs. im getting the audio from my xbox and my pc via the companion app. but im using the companion app to use party chat to
talk. so i cannot mute it because it then mutes the party chat audio and im not able to hear my party.

These are some issues/features that would go great along with party chat on iPhone
1. A way to switch between audio chat from iPhone and Xbox mic

I started a party chat on the Xbox app but then wanted to use switch to my headset on my Xbox, I had to leave the party chat and join again on the xbox

2. Possibly game audio on iPhone from the Xbox app

The Reason imm sending feedback here is because its not working with the testflight app on ios

the only way this would be possible is one of two solutions you connect your party through the Xbox app on your pc and talk through the pc on either Xbox party or discord voice chat. There is no way of doing it any other way, however. due to the party
chat being on a different channel on the Xbox to the audio of the game on the Xbox. Or you can stream through the Xbox to pick up the party chat this way but you won't be able to use Obs.
