PC Xbox app (Game Pass) won't install games on drives other than C

I have 3 drives installed on my PC: C, D and E, but the Xbox app just won't install games on D or E.

All drives are NTFS format, double checked.
Drive D is an HDD, and E is an SSD NVMe m.2. Just in case that info is relevant at all.

-I changed the install settings on Windows; changed them all to either drive (D or E). Got an error on the game's install on the Xbox app.
-I changed the install settings on the Xbox app; neither drive D or E will work, as I get an error when trying to install any game.

Mixed and matched both of above cases, restarting the app and/or the computer in between. No dice.
The app will not install a game somewhere else other than the C drive.

Anyone know what the problem might be?

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

    HI, D4MX,

I hope you are doing well today. Welcome to the Xbox Community. Thank you for reaching out to Xbox Forums. I am happy to help and provide suggestions that can hopefully resolve this problem for you. You may have tried some steps, but we will do them in the order I provided.

    Rename the other drives

    • Instead of having the other drives as D, E.
    • Rename them F,G
    • Format them again as NTFS
Solution: Reset Windows 10 store & Xbox app

    1. Open Settings.

    2. Go to Apps -> Apps & features.

    3. Look for Microsoft Store/Xbox App and click it on the right side.

    4. The advanced options link will appear. Click it

    5. Next, click on the Reset button to reset Microsoft Store/Xbox App to the default setting.

Solution: Try reinstalling the Gaming Services package on your Windows 10 device:

    1. Right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the main screen, and then select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    2. In the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:
    3. Get-AppxPackage *gamingservices* -allusers | remove-appxpackage -allusers
Solution: Play games offline on Windows 10 using Offline mode; this error could also be attributed to issues with the Microsoft store not recognizing your entitlement to the game. Would you please click on this link Play games offline on Windows 10 using Offline mode | Xbox Support. Then scroll down and click on the drop-down arrow and look at the steps for How to enable offline play on your device.

    Open the Xbox App

    1. Click on your profile and select Settings
    2. Go to General
    3. Under Game Install options, let me know if it allows you to choose different drives
I hope these suggestions help! If this answers your question, please mark the thread as "Answered." If your problem persists, please let me know, and we can continue to work on this issue and try to resolve it.

Fallout 76 Game Pass for PC - cannot launch

    Hi,

I had this when I first tried it. Turns out the Game-Pass version just doesn't like being installed on any drive other than the C:\ drive. Do you have the game installed on another drive than C:\?

Xbox Game Pass Beta PC Installer.

    Hi,

You can install games on any drive, but I'm pretty sure the Game Pass app needs to go on C:\ drive.

I really wouldn't recommend having a full C:\ drive. Not only will this slow your PC down, but a full drive will make updating Windows impossible.

Can't install Xbox App games in a drive other than C:

    Hello guigamuck how are you?
My name is Ezequiel I'm an Independent Consultant. I suggest you try to change the default installation of applications and games so that they are installed directly on your external 4TB hard drive. You can do this through the system so that all your files will download directly there.
Click on the Start menu (Windows icon) and select Settings (gear icon) . After you make the changes please restart your computer and see if the error is resolved.
    Select Storage.
Select Advanced Storage Settings, then select Where new content is saved.
Select the location where you want each type of content to be saved.
