PC only - Download stopped at 9% and 0 b/s

Discus and support PC only - Download stopped at 9% and 0 b/s in XBoX on Windows to solve the problem; So I attempted to try and pre-download The Medium as soon as it would let me in hopes to stream it.     PC only - Download stopped at 9% and 0 b/s


    So I attempted to try and pre-download The Medium as soon as it would let me in hopes to stream it. It didn't go past 9% so i thought nothing of it untill now its been out for over an hour and my download just cuts at 9%. I've restarted my pc, restarted the xbox app, tried downloading it from the windows store. Stopped restarted it in quick succession and nothing. It's just this game and not the rest of my net, I can download other things fine and even other games within the app itself.

    Is this because the game is being downloaded a lot right now or there something wrong?

    Windows updates are all up to date as well as my graphics. I've ended the client in task manager as well, still gets stuck.

    Have you tried connecting using wired connection and still having the same issue? Did you try checking the troubleshooting steps provided by sAp832 through this link: Extremely Slow Download Speeds on PC Xbox App - Microsoft Community

    Additionally. write down the following information from your speed test results (having this information handy will make the discussion easier if you have to contact your ISP later):

    • Download speed
    • Upload speed
    • Ping (or Latency)

    Based on the description, you are experiencing problem downloading game from Xbox app is not starting. Let us check and see on what we can do to help address your concern in a timely manner.



    It appears that downloading game through Xbox app does not start or making any progress since the speed is at 0. Allow us to ask few questions to help us isolate the issue further.

    1. How are you connected with the internet? Is it wired or wireless? Have you tried connecting to different internet connection or mobile hotspot?

    2. Have you tried installing game or app directly from Microsoft store and experiencing the same?

    3. What troubleshooting steps have you done so far to help resolve the issue?

    4. Are you using third-party antivirus?

    For the meantime, here are the troubleshooting that we can perform:

    1. If you are using third-party antivirus, disabled it for a while troubleshooting issues on downloading games.

    2. Make sure Windows is up to date

    • Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and then select Settings.
    • Select Windows Update.
    • On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates to see if any updates are available
    including optional updates for your device.

    • Once the updates have downloaded, select Install now to start the installation.
    • Following installation, we recommend that you restart your device so that the latest updates can take effect.
    3. Make sure Xbox app is up to date

    • Press the Start button on the taskbar, type store, and open the Microsoft Store app.
    • Select Library.
    • Under Updates & downloads, check if there is any updates available for the Xbox app. If an update is available, select Update.
    4. Make sure you are signed in to the Xbox app and the Store with the same account.

    > To make sure your permissions for the game can be validated, be sure to sign in to both the Store and the Xbox app using the same account that was used to purchase the game.

    5. Uninstall and reinstall Gaming Services

    • Select the Search icon on the taskbar, type powershell, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then select Run as administrator.
    • In Windows PowerShell, type the following command and press Enter:
      get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers
    • In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:
      start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN
    • Install the app on that page and select Yes when you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt.
    • Restart your device and try to install the game again.

    How was the download speed when connecting to mobile hotspot? Have you tried also connecting your device through wired connection so we can properly isolate the issue if this is related to wireless or wired connection.

    I tried sAp832's solution but it didn't help, i didn't try wired connection but the game was downloading with the help of mobile hotspot
