PC and Xbox have no restrictions but still acting as if there are

Hi on both my PC and my Xbox it acts as though i have restrictions. I am 19 and when my parents were over at my place they managed to get access to my computer and xbox when they were trying to add themselves to it. they put me as a child and added restrictions. just recently i removed myself from their group in xbox and fixed my birthday on microsoft and it is still acting as if my age is what they set it. on xbox i can still play call of duty and everything fine but i cant access it from the shop. My PC just has no access to mature games however.

Any fixes? i cant chat with support so im stuck here

    :)

PC and Xbox have no restrictions but still acting as if there are

Hello Chase M, my name is Oskayra, and I will be happy to help you.

Beforehand, it is important that you keep in mind that this is a public community forum, so we are players like you, we are not employees of Microsoft or Xbox, so we do not have access to any user account or check anything from the forum. All users help each other with common problems.

Remember that this is a possible solution, if it doesn't work for you we can try another one.

Note: This is a public forum therefore, I suggest you not share your personal data.

I am very sorry for the problem you are going through due to the age restrictions, with the intention of being able to help you I did an internal search on the Microsoft forum and found a publication by Gerardo CG, an independent advisor, where he suggests the following steps to solve the problem:

I'm sorry to read that you are having problems with the age restrictions.

Just to confirm, please check if you are not part of any family groups using the link below. If you are part of a group, leave it and see if the problem persists:

    https://account.microsoft.com/family/">https://account.microsoft.com/family/">https://account.microsoft.com/family/">https://account.microsoft.com/family/">https://account.microsoft.com/family/">https://account.microsoft.com/family/">https://account.microsoft.com/family/

If the issue persists after verifying the date of birth on your Microsoft account and making sure you're not part of any Xbox family group, it means that for some reason the system is still detecting your account as a minor. In this case, you will have to follow a special procedure to grant permissions to your main account with the help of a newly created adult account if you are already of age.

This is the detailed procedure of what you need to do:

    1. Create a new adult account, go to the following link and click "Create a family group" if you don't have one created:

    https://account.microsoft.com/family/

    * It is important to emphasize that this adult account must be the Family Organizer once created.

    2. After clicking that button, a window will appear where you must enter the email or phone number associated with your main account to add it to the family. In this step, set the role of your main account with the problem to "Member".

    3. Sign in to your main account email and accept the family invitation.

    4. From the newly created adult account (it is important to be on this account), return to the family link:

    https://account.microsoft.com/family/

    5. Click on your main account profile within the family website and go to "Content Filters" in the left tab and then "Apps & Games" at the top.

    6. On the right side, where it says “Allow apps and games rated up to the age of,” set it to “Any age.”

Check if the problem with your main account is resolved. It should now allow you to download and play any game without any problems.

Thank you for your patience, I hope everything can be resolved. I will be attentive to your response. Blessings.

    Sincerely,
    Oskayra.

Family organizer have Xbox PC restrictions

Hi John! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

Please log out of the Xbox app and the Microsoft store app, after this restart the PC and log back in, remember that the email that has the subscription active must be logged in the Microsoft Store app

That should be enough however some users have to change their privacy settings, you can do this here

    https://account.xbox.com/en-US/settings

you will have to change the programming in the third column, from standard to familiar, save and then change again

    Wifi in hotel room

If the OP used a wireless bridge with a laptop, both the PC and the Xbox will be able to go online at the same time. The wireless network would still only see one machine, the PC would act as a go-between the two systems.
