    my 12yr old had an error when he clicked the middle controller button to like chat and get to menu -- he followed directions to remedy and after hard reset didnt work he did a factory reset -- he does not know his passwords for his
    gamertag or email as he set these up on his own apparently and kept no record --- since we have spent hundreds of dollars on xbox cards for games and puchases ingame in the last couple of months and since i used a personal credit card before on the account
    will support please help him get it back working for him - tried recovery on the email he set up for it but no idea what he used when he did it

    My console keeps locking up every time I try and install a new game.

    In the most extreme case a factory reset maybe in order. What you can try to do first is a couple of things, remove your primary account from the xbox and then re-add the primary account (make sure you know the password). This will force xbox live to sync with the console. If you suspect you have networking issues, clear your mac address and hard reset the console. That is the easiest thing to try first. If the problem persists contact support. Also are you a member of the preview program or no ?

    Faulty Kinect - seems a common problem

    Have put my dodgy Kinect on my sons Xbox and it appears to work fine on his!

    Not yet connected his Kinect to test it on my Xbox but will later.

    Guessing it's an issue on the machine and always thought it started playing up after an update. If his is the same I may opt for a factory reset..... Has anybody with Kinect issues resolved by a factory reset?

    Sorry to hear about your issue. I've attached a link with instructions on how to do a factory reset:

    I would also recommend unplugging/resetting your router at the same time you shut down the Xbox during the factory reset. You will need your account/password information to sign back into your Xbox after the factory reset. Let us know if this works!

    Why won't my play store open

    Hey,

    if there is an issue with the store a soft factory reset helps most often. Soft means you can keep your games and settings.

    You just need your email & password to download your profile after the reset.

    Why can I not update via the normal process, why does it have to a be an offline update? I don't have access to a PC to download it onto a USB. Is this going to keep happening until I do the offline update?

    Thank you for reaching out to us here on the forums regarding this situation.

    With multiplayer and game issues like these, there could be many factors that could cause the packet loss issue so it's best to start with basic troubleshooting steps and work our way up trying different things to start ruling out some factors and narrow it down to the root cause.



    Solution 1: Basic troubleshooting steps:

    Step 1: Clear Mac address:

    Settings > Network Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate Mac Address > Clear it and the console should restart. It would definitely help if you could restart the internet router while the console is restarting.

    Step 2: Close any running games:

    To remove download constraints from games or apps being installed, you can either wait for the Xbox to suspend the running game, or you can force games to close by doing the following:

    1. On the Home screen, navigate to your most recently run game.
    2. With the game highlighted, press the Menu button and select Quit.
    Step 3: Remove your account:

    First, please select System > Settings > account > remove accounts and then select your account and select Remove to confirm then re-add your account.

    Step 4: Reset your console:

    If you are still encountering the same issue, please select System > Settings > System > Console info > Select Reset console > Choose Reset and keep my games and apps.

    Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you to sign in to the account.

    Step 5: Check your NAT type:

    Another thing you should check is your NAT type. I would like you to check your NAT type if open because that could sometimes interfere. to check for the NAT type you can follow the steps below:

    Settings > Network Settings > NAT type => It should be open.

    If the NAT type is not open, you will need to open some ports with your internet provider. These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work: Port 88 (UDP) Port 3074 (UDP and TCP) Port 53 (UDP and TCP) Port 80 (TCP) Port 500 (UDP) Port 3544 (UDP) Port 4500 (UDP).

    Step 7: Check your internet connection:

    In case the issue still persists, please try connecting to a different network, or perhaps using a hotspot momentarily to just sync your worlds and then connecting to your home network once more.
