Passkey reset

Everything was reset. I don't know the original owner because I didn't buy it from them. The person that I bought it from has no idea. I guess I should have checked it but I am new to all of this. Not a youngster, I was looking for something to pass my time because I am retired. I hope someone can figure it out. Thanks for the answer and will be looking forward to an answer.

I have the same problem. I bought a used xbox 360 and can not reset the family pass key. I have tried resetting it by the instructions given in this thread. Any help would be appreciated.

If you’re specifically referring to the Xbox 360 passkey, then refer to the relevant support guide that Nursemorph shared above as it’s correct.

If you’re trying to reset a passkey on an Xbox One or Series X|S, however, just enter any 6-digit combination three times which should allow you create a new one after entering your account password. If you’re on a child account and a parent/guardian in the same Microsoft Family set this up for you, then they would need to reset it as the adult.

You may need to be connected to Xbox Live (or at least connected to the internet) to perform this on your console, though.

Thanks for confirming. The best option would be to contact support as I was recently informed that they can reset the passkey for you with a verification code.

The Xbox Community staff are still looking at ways to address this though and to hopefully improve the way to reset the passkey.
