Party/In game Bug issue

Since the new xbox update came out, many friends and myself have had this issue, where if you start or join an xbox live party, and then go into in game game chat, you can't hear to talk to anyone in it, because you went into an xbox live party. And the
only way to fix it, is to go hard reset your xbox, and not join another xbox live party so you can hear/talk in game

I will try this method the next time it happens, or more specifically, the first option since I do not have another game as of yet for the Xbox One. I appreciate the info.

You may not be in a party, but having joined your friend the console is bundling you into the same game session, hence it thinks you want to keep playing with your friend.

If you actually were in a party, the easiest way to resolve is to snap party, then press Leave and then Game (you could even stay in a party and you would still be able to play ranked matches with others).

If you're not in a party, there are a couple ways this should work:

Go to Friends, locate your friend, press A to bring up their profile, go to the right where it says they're in a game session, click A for details and you should be able to select Leave Game.

Or - Launch another game, then launch Killer Instinct again.

Or, as you have already discovered - turn off and on the console.

Let's start troubleshooting this by
removing your account from the console,
power cycle the console, then sign back in and check once more.
