Discus and support Parental Lock on Adult Account in XBoX Accessibility to solve the problem; I tried to buy the gamepass but it wouldn't let me saying that "You need an adult to buy this".     Parental Lock on Adult Account


    I tried to buy the gamepass but it wouldn't let me saying that "You need an adult to buy this". A quick google search said something about a family group and when I checked it showed I was in one, since the email of the family organizer is inaccessible and will remain that way I left the family group. I tried again to buy it but it showed the same alert. I read somewhere else that child restrictions are lifted when the account owner becomes an adult according to the given info, that doesn't seem to be the case since according to microsoft's own info I'm well over 18. I'm on PC. I tried to get a live support chat started but it doesn't seem possible. Any help would be appreciated.

    Based on your description, you're having trouble purchasing the Xbox Game Pass due to parental lock on your adult account. Since you've already left the family group, I suggest you try the following steps:

    1. Sign out of your Microsoft account on all devices.

    2. Clear your browser cache and cookies.

    3. Sign back in to your Microsoft account and check your account's age. Steps: How to change a birth date on a Microsoft account - Microsoft Support

    4. If you are considered as adult, then try to purchase the Xbox Game Pass again.

    If the issue persists, you may contact our live support team. They are specialist to billing and purchase concern.

    2. Scroll down and look at the lower left side if you can see the page matches the country/region you are currently located.
    3. If not, please select the country/region it is showing and select the correct one among the lists.
    4. Make sure to use to check the available contact times of the support.
    5. Select the "Contact Us" button
    6. Select the drop-down menu options that will match your concern.
    7. The next window will provide you with support articles based on your request and we recommend reviewing the relevant articles before selecting the "See contact options" button.

    How do I promote my account to an adult account?

    Changing the birthdate on you Microsoft account, will not promote your Xbox account to an adult. By design, once you enter a date of birth on your Xbox account, it is locked and you will have to wait till it progresses naturally to adult.

    This is by design and stops children circumventing parental controls.

    I'm fairly sure it is set to adult.

    Although I cannot find anywhere either on my Xbox dashboard (Setting option, parental lock option, etc.) or my online account settings, options etc. that states that it is a child or adult account.

    I found in the help section, steps on how to promote an account from child to adult but followed the steps and didn't see the promote option.
