Parental Controls: Allow LAN games, but not online?

I agree - I've just been round the same loop - this is completely ridiculous!

I can't play Minecraft with my 7-year-old on my LAN, without also giving her access to every other Minecraft server on the internet!!!

Come on Microsoft - is this really the best you can do???

I have spent hours going between my microsoft account, the kids accounts, their ipads, my computer, my xbox account, their xbox accounts - all to try and do the same things as you. Create a world that my 5 & 6 year olds can play in together without worrying about them logging on to some random external server and interacting with strangers without my supervision or knowledge.

Apparently that is either too hard for Minecraft/Xbox/Microsoft/whoever is in charge (!) to enable - or maybe they just don't have kids of their own and so don't understand what parent's actually wish for!!

It is just CRAZY that this private LAN option is not available!! For ALL the hoops I have had to jump through this morning (in the name of child online safety!) only to get to the very end find out you actually don't give a **** about child safety at all !!!!

I am furious.

Thanks! I find that really surprising... it makes me wonder whether that setting is even supposed to apply to local multiplayer, and its Minecraft that incorrectly applied it to local games. It's typically only online access that parents need to worry about, and rarely is there ever a concern for preventing multiplayer between people in the same house? Or maybe I'm not creative enough to imagine that scenario

To my knowledge, there isn't a way to allows LAN multiplayer and restrict online access. It's just the one setting for all Multiplayer on child accounts.
