Parental control text without voice.

Hi,

I’m trying to work out a friendly way of allowing my child to play on among us without opening them up to the potential of bad voice communication from strangers. The only controls I can find have voice and text linked, while text can be filtered, voice cannot (easily). And it seems among us requires this setting to be set to ‘everyone’

Is there a way to separate out voice and text communication settings?

I'm afraid there's no way to separate voice and text communication settings, they're bundled in one.

Thanks for bringing this inquiry to our attention here on the forums. There are parental controls that control the ability to communicate online but there isn't a public way or official product to see exactly what was said. You can read and listen to any
text or voice messages from the account message center.

You can see and set the parental controls permissions on the web site now. They do not seem to do anything in game however. The cross play option does not appear in the Fortnite settings after the parental control settings are changed - even after restarting
the Xbox. Best guess is a future Xbox system update and possibly Fortnite update will be required for the parental control settings to be respected.

To see the parental controls for yourself:

1. Log into Xbox.com with the parent account.
2. Click the player icon in the top right to show the menu and click “Xbox Settings”.
3. Click “Privacy & Online Settings”.
4. Click the child account.
5. Adjust “You can communicate outside of Xbox Live with voice & text”. I assume setting to “In-game Friends” allows voice and text chat with Epic friends only.
6. Scroll down and click “Submit”.
7. Scroll up and click “Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety”.
8. For “You can play with people outside of Xbox Live” click “Allow”.
9. Scroll down and click “Submit” again.

You can do it in the online safety settings on the Xbox one by going to settings 》 account 》privacy and online safety or by going to this link: http://account.xbox.com/settings

Make sure this setting is set to friends or everyone:

Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites.

Also do you have an adult or child account, as parental controls might be blocking it

Ummm okay sending voice messages is much more convenient than sending text using the Xbox controller.
