Palworld preview not quite doing what I think it's supposed to.

I need to pick some brains, I'm trying out the palworld preview via insider, I join, I restart my console and I get promoted to install the update which is 12.6GB. Now it gets fruity, I open the game, I try to load my existing save and this doesn't work, presumably because of the different versions, this isn't a problem I just started a new game. Loaded in and got going, after a few hours of gameplay it's safe to say I didn't really notice any differences, that was until I thought I'd have a little go during my lunch break but streaming it on my phone (Galaxy fold), then there were changes, the build menu was different, items appeared in my weapon workbench that I had never seen and other instances. I figured I just hadn't paid attention, So when I got home I launched the game up looking forward to getting stuck into these new features just to find none of them were there. So I went back to the insider app, left the preview, got the update to revert it to the normal game and just went on it to make sure it was still the normal game but I had the new menus, not the new items just the new build menus and my previous save also now loaded. Back to the insider app and opted back into the preview, re-installed the new update, low and behold, all new features have disappeared. I've cycled through this process a few times and I'm at a loss, anyone experiencing a similar issue?
