    Okay here goes nothing!

    So I recently bought Minecraft for windows 10, but then found out I couldn't play it because I wasn't able to install it. The game told me I had no device paired to my Microsoft account. So I tried to return only to find that you can't really, great 30 euros down the drain! So I endeavored to figure out this problem so that I may conquest the land of cubes.

    Now as I state in the subject of this piece I Two problems. The first is that when I attempt to pair my device using my email I am told I cannot use my personal email. But if I cant use my personal which I bought the game with, how can I install it?

    The second is do I need windows 10 to play Microsoft for windows? this may seem silly but I honestly don't know, to be truly honest i don't really know if I actually have a Microsoft account!

    I hope somebody can help in a short time, I'm not even sure if i have posted it in the right place.

    To clarify, do you own Minecraft through the Microsoft store? Are you trying to get your Minecraft game from a windows 10 device to a windows 8 device?

    Let us know these details. For now, it is not possible to transfer Minecraft (for windows 10) from a windows 10 device to a windows 8 device.

    Looked through some of the help articles - man the information is confusing.

    Anyways from what I'm inferring from the posts is that you can play Windows 10 to Windows 10, and Pocket Edition to Windows 10 and that's it right now.

    I did that, and I redeemed the code on my alt. But it still didn't give me free Windows 10 Minecraft. Am I not doing it right?
    If you redeemed the Code on your "alt", then Minecraft Windows 10 is bound to that account only.

    In order to get Minecraft on your PC then, you would have to open the Store app on your Windows 10 device, and in the upper right, sign out of your "non-alt" account in the store app. Then sign in with your "alt" account, and you should find Windows 10 Minecraft
    in your account's library. Simply download Minecraft from the library, and you should be able to play the game on your "non-alt" account as well.

    But only your "alt" account that originally redeemed the code can re-download Minecraft from the store. No one else can.

    also, it says my PC is linked, but when I look at the registered devices, it says there are 0 registered devices. Maybe this is the problem. It is an older dell, but meets all the reqs.
    Just to make sure, did you purchase "Minecraft", "Minecraft for Windows 10" or Minecraft Java Edition? Typically when it's looking for a device, it's looking for a console. "Minecraft" is for the console. "Minecraft for Windows 10" or Java Edition are for the PC.
