Owned game on Microsoft Store won't launch, get error saying I need gamepass.

I bought and own Sea of Thieves on the Microsoft store in 2018. I have played it for years, but now I get the error "Looks like you need to renew Game Pass. If your subscription is current, try quitting and relaunching the game". I own the game outright, I do not need gamepass to play it. What is going on exactly?

Yes, I have checked the billing page and I am on the account I purchased the game on years ago, yes I have reinstalled it, and yes I have reset the store/logged in and out. It will not launch on the windows store or xbox app.

Tried and no luck. Same error. It was on the correct account.

Hi there!

Please confirm on your account order history https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders if the game order is showing there as completed to verify your ownership of the game. If it's not showing there, it's possible that you purchased the game using a different account.

If that's the right account, try the solution below:
Launch the Xbox app and sign in with the Microsoft account you use for Xbox.
Select your gamerpic, then select Settings.
Under Account, select Change my Microsoft Store account.
Follow the on-screen instructions and sign in to the Store with the Microsoft account you used to check your order history.

There are no error codes, but when I look at games in the store on xbox it says I need to get the gamepass

Microsoft store said i owned this game(minecraft) but it wouldn't launch the games saying i need to sign into the account that purchased it so i un installed minecraft and can not get it back, this EXACT thing happened to my gta.... answers Microsoft

So in the Xbox store it says that I OWN the game, but I actually only own the trial version. If the game is on gamepass, the option is "installable" meaning I don't own it. It's installable because it's on gamepass, but if the game offers a trial and I've downloaded that trial, the store says I OWN the game. This has caused me to purchase DLC for a game I only own the trial for. I need to know how to tell if a game I have is only the trial version of the full game.
