Over scratched redemption code

Hey there -

I can't guarantee a resolution here but we'd like to see what we can do to help you out. Could you take a screenshot of your code and upload it privately to an image hosting site and then message me the link via Xbox Live message? Don't post it publicly,
we don't want someone swooping in and stealing your code.

I'll keep an eye on my Xbox Live messages for that link from you.

Does the card have a silver coating on the back to be scratched away? If so, then you should be good, and the card most likely is already activated. Just scratch away to reveal the 25-character redemption code you would enter.

If the card says that the redemption code is on the receipt, things get a bit harder. Your brother would need to return to the store from which he bought the card to see if they can print a duplicate receipt of the purchase.

For clarification, was the redemption code already scratched off before you received it? I recommend trying to redeem the code on your Xbox 360 console and our Code Redemption page. If that
does not work, try following the steps on our Xbox Live Code Redemption Troubleshooter.

If the issue persists after trying the steps in that troubleshooter, I recommend contacting our chat or phone support agents through our Contact Us page so that they can take a look!

I've already provided the front and back of the card and store receipt all with the case number written on it. Then they said to create a profile...which I already had. Then they said to update my billing info. I don't think that has anything to do
with the gift card number. Looking back at it I might only not know one letter/number. Maybe I will try each letter and number to see if I can guess it right. UGH!!!!

If you code is not too damaged, then you might still be able to find out what the damaged portions are as
certain characters aren’t accepted: These are A, E, I, O, U, L, S, 0, 1, and 5.

If this is still not able to help you redeem your code, then I would recommend reviewing the

troubleshooting gift card and code issues articles and see if these steps work for you!

Alternatively, if this does not work for you, then you can use the

Xbox Digital Code Solution to request a new code, but be advised, that you will need to provide some additional info to complete this process.
