Outriders PC Gamepass multiplayer issue "Connection to host failure "

Hi everyone me and my gf love to play that game thanks to crossplay option as I play on xbox and she is on PC and play via gamepass. Last year we had no problems we came back to this game recently to prepare for upcoming DLC however we came across a problem. She can't join my game or my other xbox friends, but we can join her game with no problems. When she try to join she get message like "connection to host failure"

I've looked all over the Internet for a solution and can't find anything regarding this issue. I've tried everything from restarting the game, restarting the devices or restarting router. I even made sure that firewall on her PC allows permission to Outriders. Mine and my friends xbox NAT is open and we all have rather fast Internet connection. I tried to join some random game on her PC and I was able to find few games and I even came across people that were playing on different platform than PC.

I also spoke with customer service from game developer and performed all the steps they thought would help from changing DNS to Google on her PC to opening ports as well as try to use separate Internet connections to both devices and the issue is still there PC is unable to join xbox. I even disable firewall but it did not help so I don't know what else can be done. They also asked me to try run the system in Selective Startup to see if some programs or applications might affect this but also with no results. I found few posts on reddit and steam forum and there is quite a lot of players with exactly same issue on PC, unable to join xbox players but xbox players can join them.

Is there some smart guy here that can think of what might cause that or possible solution for this? I would appreciate if somone is willing to investigate and help.

I believe the only other option is uninstall Outriders, create another local account on your Windows, and then install it again:

Create another Local Account:

Press Win+R Keys.

Type netplwiz and press Enter.

Click Add button.

Click Sign in without a Microsoft Account. If you do not see that option, disconnect from the Internet.

Click Local account if prompted.

Type the username you want, and the password. You must also specify a hint. Click Next.

Click Finish.

Make the new local account an admin account:

Select Start > Settings > Accounts > Family & Other Users > Select the Account Owner Name (you should see "Local account" below the name) > Change Account Type.

Select Administrator, and then select OK.

Sign in with the new Administrator Account.

After that:

Go to Start > Type Services > Open it.

Find all Xbox Services (Xbox Accessory Management Service, Live Auth Manager, Live Game Save, Live Networking Service). Right Click > Properties> Set the startup type to Automatic. Also Start them.

Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options > Privacy > Uncheck "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device and reopen my apps after an update and restart." Restart your PC.

After all, try to install it again. But it's for sure a glitch on Outriders, since it doesn't happen with any other game and your privacy settings are setup correctly.

Well, besides from that, I think the only option your gf could try is to completely remove the xbox app and try to install it again:

- Completely uninstall Xbox App (and Xbox Companion App if you have it). Use their own uninstaller (just search for Xbox on Windows Start and click on uninstall).

- After uninstalling, go to Start > Type PowerShell > Right click it and select “Run As Administrator” > Type the following command and press Enter (you can run one at a time):

Get-AppxPackage Xbox | Remove-AppxPackage

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxApp | Remove-AppxPackage

Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.GamingServices | Remove-AppxPackage –allusers

(If you receive an error when executing any of these commands, don't bother. Just follow the other steps here)

- Press Windows + R and type in "regedit". Press enter.

- Search for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services

- Delete "GamingServices" and "GamingServices.net" (if they're still there).

- Click on Start > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials. Search for Xbl|DeviceKey, click on it and then Remove.

- Delete Accounts and Cache folders at:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.XboxIdentityProvider_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\TokenBroker

- Also delete Microsoft Store local cache files at:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe

- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Microsoft Store > Advanced Options > Reset.

- Go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking > Fix it.

- Go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > Set if OFF.

- Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options > Privacy > Uncheck "Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device and reopen my apps after an update and restart."

- Press the Windows Key + R. Type WSReset.exe and press Enter.

- Restart Windows.

- If you're using a proxy, please stop using it for now:

- Press Windows Key + R. Type inetcpl.cpl and press Enter. Click the Connections tab, and then click LAN settings. Uncheck the Use a proxy server for your LAN check box. Click Ok.

- Please check if Date and Time is set correct. Uncheck "Set the time automatically", do it manually.

- Open Microsoft Store and make sure you are logged in with the correct account.

- Finally, install Xbox App (and Xbox Companion App if you had it) again. Open it and login to the correct Microsoft/Xbox account.

If this still doesn't work, your only last option is to contact Outriders support:

Hi thank you for your response, I can confirm that all the settings were already set up the way you've mentioned, however I applied them again and relog her account as you've mentioned. The issue is still there, I also checked my own account settings to see if they are the same and they are set exactly the same.

I don't know what else can be done to fix this, like I said there is a lot of players out there experiencing the same issue and I would like to find a way to fix it not just for myself but also help other people.

The one thing I tried I did not mentioned earlier that once I tried VPN as apparently servers for this game are located in Poland so I set my VPN to Poland as well as few other countries and it ended up with same result "connection to host failure" I don't use VPN for gaming I was just checking to see if this will bring different results.

I think Microsoft as well as Square Enix shoud take a closer look at this.

This game is fantastic and it's shame people experience this issues, DLC will be out soon and hope somone will find the way to fix it, like I've mentioned same issue on PC happen to players on Steam.

Hi once again thank you for your reply I performed all the steps you've asked me to do except one:

"- Go to Start > Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking > Fix it" this option was not there in that section so I skipped that.

I thought if I delete the xbox app it will also delete the game but once I installed xbox app again and login the game was already there.

I open the game and tried to join with her account to the game I hosted on my xbox and the issue with connection to host failure is still there. Maybe I did something wrong but I start to belive this issue is with Outriders alone. I opened different game like Halo and I wqs able to join the game to my xbox host.

I'm not sure if there is anything else we can do however if you have any suggestions I would be happy to try.

Ask her to visit the website and login:

Set all the settings to "Allow" or "Everyone" on the three tabs:

Privacy;

Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One & Windows 10 Online Security;

Xbox 360 Online Security;

Note: If she is on a child account, she’ll need an adult in her family to sign in to their Microsoft account to change her privacy settings. This is done through the Family settings:

After changing her privacy settings, ask her to log off from Xbox App and login again and see if it solves her issue.
