Outriders game pass constantly crash after intro with new patch "new horizon"

Hello!

Sorry for my english. I have got problem with The Outriders, two days ago I patched the game and after that i cannot play. After intro, it shows main screen, when I push "space" to play, game suddenly crash, Xbox app shows The UE4-Madness Game has crashed and will close. I tried to repair and reset the game from windows settings, reinstall it, install new driver for gpu (RX 5600 xt) without success. I wrote to Square Enix Support, they replied "try to change name of intro splash_screen.unmovie.bak in game files". But i cannot edit files in windows apps, because it is secured. Few weeks ago I fought with permission problem with this folder, because I wanted to force game with dx11 (with dx 12 there is

annoying stuttering), but I gave up. I have access to files in this folder, but i cannot edit them. And now I the game even doesn`t want to start...

Just in case anyone has this problem and stumbles upon this thread: If you have bitdefender, the firewall is the cause for this error. It was on my end at least. Maybe other AV programs do the same to this game so it's worth a try.

I think the problem was on lan driver. I had driver installed from windows store. I was trying everthing, and in the same time istalled drivers for motherboard chipset, lan and new bios motherboard. After that, the game starts without problem. Ok, about new topic I will remeber next time. Thank you, but why this the new topic about dx12 is in chinese, because I am from Poland, I speak polish and badly english😀

Hi I had the same issue the fix that i used was going into the Xbox Companion App and signing out and the signing back into your microsoft account. This resolved my issue and the game started without any issues. I hope this helps.

Sorry to hear about Outriders crashing on your PC.

It seems that Square Enix is aware of this issue as it is one of their trending articles right now here.

They specifically have a troubleshooting page dedicated for this very issue here

I would review the steps they list in these articles as they are constantly being updated to see if it can help to get you back up and running.

As for changing permissions to access the Windows App folder. It is not recommended to change ownerships or settings on this folder as it can alter the integrity of the games themselves and cause them to not work. Even though your copy of Outriders isn't functioning right now, I would recommend more so to uninstall the game and to do a cleanup on your disk to ensure all links to the old files are gone before you do another reinstall. This entails doing a disk clean up from the article here and a defrag using the steps here. Once these are done, do a reinstall and it should have it back up in a clean state.
