OTA pvr functionality?

Hi there,

I'm thinking of picking up an Xbox One soon but need to know if I can record tv shows OTA? I know from you other support page that purchasing the correct USB tuner and antenna will get me OTA channels. However, the reality is that hardly anyone (my family
especially) watches live tv - we all watch recorded shows now. Can your machine record shows and how many shows can this machine record while watching live tv?

Xbox One and HDHomerun

Not sure what you mean by "outside tuners" because the Home Work PVR works with Xbox One, meaning Xbox has the drivers to send it commands.

That downside is that you get what you pay for and the Home Worx PVR is a POS and I'd like to send it back to Amazon. I found this thread hoping someone got the industry leading OTA PVR HDHome run working. I'm very surprised you can set one up in settings
for Xbox One.

Xbox ONE deliivered!...Few questions before hook up/

"on my DVR.. (Cablevision IO) I am able to pause, play, rewind etc.. just cannot "record" by using my voice.."

Huh? I find that odd, I am able to record using my voice with my Homeworx pvr OTA box. I wonder why that is?

Unfortunately, there is no PVR at the moment. It has been discussed by Microsoft, however, if they go ahead with it I am guessing they would focus on the OneGuide app first which offers a channel guide and HDMI passthrough for cable TV boxes. I am not sure
enough use the OTA ability to be honest. Sorry mate.

I can't answer the UK Freeview bit, here is what I know about the Hauppauge Digital TV Tuner for Xbox:

It can be used to view compatible OTA TV stations,
The OneGuide app can be used to view the Digital TV Tuner stations,
IIRC there is a pause live TV function however it may be restricted to a maximum of 30 minutes,
Microsoft was working on an update to enable longer PVR functionality but that was put on hold some months ago, I don't know if they plan to restart that.

That last point disappointed me when it was announced as I specifically bought the Hauppauge Digital TV Tuner for Xbox when I read that they were working on the PVR feature.

The pause live TV function is nice though if you just need a short bathroom break.

If you have a pvr with analogue (the red/yellow/white plugs) or hdmi input then you can attach your xbox into your pvr and record to your pvr's hard disc. Of course if you use the analogue input then you only get analogue quality not HD. Now that you
have the program on your pvr many pvrs have a function to transfer to an external drive so you can use that functionality.
