    Original Xbox One unusual power on behavior


    My Xbox One (Original) has been acting weird lately. When I try to turn on my console it makes a very faint ding as if to power up with dead batteries but wont power on. I have found that if I unplug my HDMI and my external hard drive (2T Xbox hard drive
    by Sea Gate) it will power on just fine. I can also plug them back in without any problems and they work as if they had never been unplugged.

    Does anyone else have this issue? Should I have it looked at by my local Microsoft store?

    __*Update*__

    After testing my power supply on another console I have determined that the power supply is faulty due to dust, over use and life expectancy. I have decided to have it replaced to permanently resolve my power struggle.

    You might be spot on. I'll exchange my power supply with my second console's power supply and see if the issue is the power supply. Thank you!

    I have removed the power cord to drain the system as a hardware reset but it still does not power on unless the HDMI and External have been unplugged. I appreciate the idea but its not going to resolve the issue.

    If it powers on without a problem with just the external harddrive unplugged it could be that there is a problem with the power supply. You can try using a different power cable or different surge protector to see if that fixes your problem.

    you can try to powercycle the xbox by holding the on buton for 5-10 seconds to see if it improves the situation
