Original Xbox on console problem

Hi There,

When you say factory resetting itself, do you mean like you have to go through all the menus again to set up everything again, as if the Xbox was new out of box?

There was an old thread that I found on here that had someone with your issue and he was recommended to factory reset his xbox so to delete completely everything and see if that helps or if that doesn't work then to send the xbox in for repairs, because
it might be a hardware issue.

Thanks for the reply. I did end up resetting and doing a factory reset and start over. Works fine now.

What i was saying is every time he turned it on it was at the home screen. And it had the get started app or what ever it is.

Like I said factory reset delete everything fixed it.

When you set it up to be unplugged regularly, make sure that the console is running in "Energy saving mode" instead of "Instant on" mode. Or have your son pressing the Xbox button on the console for 10 seconds to properly shut the system down before unplugging.

When the console is in instant on mode, it isn't completely shut down, and the operating system is still running in the background doing updates and working on the hard drive.

When you unplug the console while in the middle of writing to the disc, it could corrupt data on the hard drive, causing the console to "think" something is wrong and resetting to factory defaults perhaps.

if it is the Original XBOX then as it is quite a few years old I would hazard a guess that the motherboard CMOS battery or something similar has gone flat so it does not save any of the initial setup settings any more. You may need to get that replaced
