Original gamer tag

I recently changed my name which had no numbers and wanted to keep the original still if I ever decided to change it back. When I made a new account it only shows up with # but I’m the only person with the original name and no others have it. Do I need to wait longer for the name to be officially vacant, or is the original name no longer available ever?

Thank you for the replies, my intention with my original gamer tag was never meant to be offensive but just trying to be funny. Am I allowed to post my original gamer tag on this forum? I did not want to put my original gamer tag in my original post since
it was deemed offensive as gamer tag and did not want to break any of the forum rules.

your old gamertag will be blocked for 30 days. Afterwards you should be able to claim it with a different account. But keep it as a secret - even friends could think it would be a funny prank to take it away from you.

Yes they said slowly there deleting the OG's (Original Gamer Tag's) and they didnt set a specific date of when they do delete the Gamer Tags

first of all you can not have 2 different gamer tags on one email address so there must be a different email address associated with the original gamer tag your best bet would be to contact xbox support at support.xbox.com/contact-us and give them your gamer
tag and if they can verify your account they can give you the email address associated with your original gamer tag

Gamer tags are tied to accounts and can only be changed when you go through the process to change the gamer tag. No one can give you a gamer tag to assign to another account.

So, neither you or as you stated, "people threating to take the tag as soon as it is chnaged" can take that gamer tag.

The gamer tag won't be made available right away if you change the gamer tag on that original account.
