    Option for minority languages?, Welsh


    I personally speak Welsh, it is my mother-tongue and the language I grew up using,

    Growing up absorbing media that only offers the most widely spoken languages such as; English, Chinese, French, German etc it failed to give people like myself a language that would've helped me navigate my life, I understand that there are constrains in corporations to offer such languages because it doesn't offer monetary benefits due to how little people speak those minority languages, and to be fair on Microsoft, they have offered Welsh language options to their computers, office packages and online content, however, the buck stops with their consoles and the games they fund.

    I wondered if you could reach out to someone further up and ask if they could implement AI language tools to make those options available?

    there's an old saying in Welsh: 'Cenedl heb iaith cenedl heb galon' (Literal translation; A nation without a language is a nation without a heart), this means that when you lose a language you lose its culture, its history, its identity and when we lose one language, we all lose out globally because minority languages is part of human identity.

    There are a lot of "smaller" languages in the world, and the Xbox only has limited storage space for it's operating system.

    Since Wales belongs to "Great Britain", the locale for language in Wales on Xbox is therefore "(en-GB) English (Great Britain)".

    While technically it's about storage space, you could say, that while Welsh is an official language in Wales, English is also the official language. Therefore Xbox did only choose the "more general" English language for every country in Great Britain.

    Why am I seeing adverts in Welsh and for a Welsh Town 250 miles from my home in Eastern England

    All major companies use English for the UK including Microsoft for example windows doesnt let you select Welsh has a option its all comes under United Kingdom - English. Has too the adverts they are likley from a welsh company. Has its just a advert it should
    not effect your gameplay. If you want too get rid of the ads then you can upgrade too the paid verion of solitaire in the store.
