    opting out of cable TV for good alternatives, any way to get Xbox One Live TV w/o HDMI cable ...


    New Xbox One and opting out of cable tv for alternatives, like netflix, on air antenna tv, internet tv, direct sports and Detroit Tiger games, ect. So, is there any way for me to get the Xbox One live TV & benefits without having a cable box with HDMI Outlet?
    With so many people opting out of cable & so many good alternatives, I cannot believe that Microsoft would create Xbox One so that a user has to buy cable. Smells like collusion to me.

    Thanks, but I am getting rid of cable and going with netflix, on air antenna tv, internet tv, direct sports and Detroit Tiger games, ect. So, is there any way for me to get the Xbox One live TV & benefits without having a cable box with HDMI Outlet? With
    so many people opting out of cable & so many good alternatives, I cannot believe that Microsoft would create Xbox One so that a user has to buy cable. Smells like collusion to me.

    Xbox One setup and hookup questions

    I am trying to figure out the best way to hookup the Xbox one with my current setup.

    Currently my Cable box is connected to a surround sound receiver via HDMI cable.

    My receiver is then hooked up to my TV via HDMI cable.

    Given the above setup would be best way to hook up the Xbox one and still get the live TV functionality be

    Cable box to Xbox one HDMI in

    Xbox HDMI out to Receiver

    Receiver to TV HDMI in

    Unfortunately there is no way to connect the internal Receiver of the TV to the Xbox One for TV functions,

    The HDMI IN on the Xbox One is designed to work with Satellite or Cable TV which involves having a separate box that normally connects to the TV with an HDMI cable.

    I.e. I really do need to connect a seperate STB to the Xbox one in order to enjoy live tv even if (or although) I am using a smart tv? Does this make any sense? The idea of a smart tv is to live w/o any extra STB's...

    Is there a possibility to directly feed in the tv signal to the Xbox one?

    What about K4meltreiber's input of using the bi-directional LAN cables inside an HDMI cable to control the built in STB?

    In comparison with the PS4 the feature "live tv" of the Xbox one was a strrong argument of the "all in one entertainment system"... I am looking forward to hear about any technical solution. As I own a premium smart tv I won't by a extra STB - sorry!

    HDMI Suddenly stopped working.

    You may not be getting a good firm connection on this tv with this HDMI cable something on the board could be loose or one of the pins in the cable could be broken, I myself have seen this occur both when the tvs HDMI board goes out and when the hdmi cable
    is damaged
