Try a hard reset of the xbox hold the home button for 8 seconds till it completely shuts off and unplug the xbox for 5 minutes tyen forget your network and try reconnecting

Initial setup

After typing my WiFi password and enter, the console shuts off and restarts. This is the second Xbox One S that has done this. I returned the first one thinking it was defective, but after my second one I'm not so sure. Help me connect to WiFi so I can
start playing please.

Sorry to hear about your problem. The Xbox One S has a build in surge suppressor feature build into the power supply and can sometime have issue if it is plugged into an addition power strip with a surge suppressor. I would try to plug the console directly
into the wall outlet per Microsoft recommendation. If your still having problem you might need to get your console serviced. Here is a link for power supply issues and it has a link to request repair services from Microsoft.

There could be a number of issues causing your console to shut down, such as ventilation, over heating etc..

That appeared to be temporary at best. When I tried to go to the My Apps and Games menu, it was blank and I couldn't get it to switch back to TV. This was only about 5-10 minutes after the successful reboot. I tried the power supply reset. No good.
Now there's something really weird. The amber light is on the power supply despite it not being plugged in to either the wall or the Xbox.

I tried both suggestions. I tried the reset, on the console, but I'm not sure anything happened since the light was off the whole time. The console had been off for a while, so it wasn't warm, but I blew out the dust with an air can. I also did the
power supply reset. It booted, but it ended up in a frozen state. I got the "Hi" message with my name and then got an incomplete screen. I could see the name of the last game I played, but no image. Trying to access the menu from a button on the controller
just dimmed the screen. Pressing again undimmed the screen.

I powered off again and the problem occurred again. I only did the power supply reset and also plugged into a different outlet. Now it booted normally. I haven't tried playing a game, but I can now watch cable TV through the HDMI pass through
