    Optical Disk Drive can't detect any disks


    I bought a used Xbox One and it worked perfectly. About 6 months (I've had it for a year now) after I bought it the optical disk drive just stopped working (Watched a Blu-ray movie before bed, popped the movie out, and turned off the console. In the morning
    it wouldn't read any of my disks, movie or games.) It makes a light grinding noise but it's barely audible, I haven't gotten any error codes, has no issues with taking and ejecting disks but it sounds like the disk doesn't even start spinning. My last option
    is buying a whole new disk drive.

    Going into the optical drive all the gears properly rotate everything, all of the lenses are crystal clear, none of the black and white pieces are interfering with each other, I just can't see what's going on while the console is trying to run a disk. Any suggestions
    on how I can self-repair or is it too far gone? Thanks in advance.

    You can still attempt to submit a repair request. Repairs are offered out of warranty for an additional fee.

    Hi Tayder,

    Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue. Since your Xbox One is making a noise from the disc drive area and isn't playing any new discs, you may wish to set up a repair for it. Our support article entitled Getting
    your Xbox console or Kinect sensor serviced     for information about registering the console to sending it off.

    That was my original concern but I contacted the previous owner and the warranty was voided long ago, he did a wifi chip repair.

    I wouldn't attempt a self-repair as it has potential to cause further issues! Best bet is to go to the support section of Xbox.com and start that process, see if there's anything they can do.
