    Optical Audio Extractor Recommendation - J-Tech's JTD18G-H5CH

Not posting an Amazon link to make sure I'm complying with any linking rules.

In a previous post here I asked for recommendations for optical audio extractors. I'm currently running a Logitech Z906 5.1 surround sound system which is an optical system. If I connect the system to my Samsung
Q60 there's a huge amount of delay no matter what settings I use on the TV or Xbox. As it seems to be a bit of an unknown I thought I'd share a recommendation for a product I recently purchased and have been using, in case anyone is also in my shoes and needing
one for the upcoming Series X|S which lacks optical out.

For the record, yes, we could all just upgrade to "real receivers", but not all of us want to or have the means to immediately after a $500 console purchase.

The product I'm using is the J-Tech JTD18G-H5CH. It's a small little box running about $40. It's simple. You set the switch on
it to 5CH, plug everything in, set your Xbox to Bitstream over HDMI, and set the codec to your preferred format (in my case DTS). BAM. Surround sound audio is detected and working with no delay!

    Hope this helps someone ☺️

    :)

    Audio issue with series X

Hi Jakobey. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

If your TV has an optical port, it's recommended to connect your sound system to your TV instead.

If your TV does not have an optical port, you'll need to use a 3rd party HDMI audio extractor to add an optical output to your Series X. The audio extractor you purchase will need to support HDMI 2.1 to ensure you get the best output from your console. You can find HDMI audio extractors on online stores such as Amazon, it will vary depending on region so I'm unable to recommend a specific extractor.

Please reach back if you have further questions.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

    AUDIO PROBLEMS

Hi yes I think this will work - an alternative would be to extract the audio data directly from the hdmi cable with a thing like that one

    www.amazon.com/.../ref=sr_1_2

Using the headset will work and is great - wireless from box to controller and than wired from controller to your ears.

Will XBox Series X support external DAC/Amp hardware via USB?

I wonder if an hdmi audio extractor will allow you to pull optical audio out of the hdmi signal to a soundbar or dac? Could be a cheap solution.
Yes, that will absolutely work. Something like an audio-extractor, an HDMI switch with separate audio outputs, or digital audio out of a TV or receiver are all potential workarounds to the lack of optical out on the new console. However, it would be nice
if the XBox would support these options natively since not everyone may have a TV with optical out or a receiver, and the only recourse is to buy additional hardware.

Connecting xbox one to projector and speaker system

Does your home theater/bluray have a optical audio in jack? If so, you can get audio out this way. If it does not, I recommend an hdmi audio extractor device such as this:

Below is an audio extractor that is a solution to the problem, however there is no stock available anywhere...
