    My 8 year old xbox one has started to make a weird noise when i turn it on and i’ve noticed lag spikes and freezing in games.

    I was wondering, will opening the console and cleaning it help with fixing the performance issues?

    It's difficult to say as, whilst it could simply be the fans etc being full of dust, it could also be a sign that the hard drive is on it's way out....depending how much it has been used, hard drives can have a span of 5-10 years in general (sometimes more if lucky)

    Is this the only downside because the warranty is long gone due to the age of the xbox.
