    Yes 1-5 are in chronological order with there being a big time jump between 3 and 4.

    You can play any of them in any order. Story telling order doesn't matter for this game series

    I have done the same thing as most of them mentioned here. GOW4 first and then all other games later. But I would say Gears 5 is at another level.

    Good to know from everyone that you don't have to start from the first game! I usually like to play games in order if I start a new franchise but sometimes the first game is so old that I might stick to the new ones.
