Online Multiplayer/Ethernet connectivity issues all of a sudden. PLEASE HELP!

Hello fellow gamers,

I am stuck.. I have tried every bit of my technology troubleshooting arsenal and I still can’t fix my issue. Recently I have upgraded my home network with plug and play network/ethernet switches to improve my gaming experience and finally have a hard wired connection to my XBSX and PS5. Everything was going smoothly over the last week up until last night when I started experiencing non-stop connectivity issues while trying to play games online on my Series X (Keep in mind not running into any of these issues on the other console).

Every single time I try to connect to an online multiplayer match or lobby I either lose connection to the other player or the games server before the game loads or 15-30 seconds into the game, based off speedtests and my Series X network settings I can’t see the issue. Down & Up speeds are as they should be, NAT Open, latency between 20-30ms, IPV4, “Test multiplayer connection” says I’m good to go. Restarted modem, bought new CAT 6’s, contacted ISP (Everything looks fine from their end), turned on DSCP tagging to see if it would make a difference. Nothing is working to fix the issue. I’m quite tech savvy but not when it comes to networking and I’m really hoping someone in the community will have some information or tips on how I can fix this.

I can’t seem get in contact with Xbox at all and every time I try the Virtual Agent or Support page it either doesn’t work or the Virtual Agent doesn’t understand my text.

Please somebody help me, I’m beyond stuck!

Ok let me try and ser if i can help with this. You have done really well to eliminte other consoles which is good. So we know its just the xbox.
Somrthing you need to check is privacy settings on the console. See under multiplayer, and check for restrictions

Thanks for your reply. I spoke to the tech team at Microsoft and I can safely say this wouldn’t be the issue. I have connected the Xbox directly to my modem to figure out if the issue would persist, it didn’t. Connection was working perfectly fine, brought the Xbox back out to my setup and connected back to the network switch issue arose again. As mentioned in OP works fine on Wifi but I want this hard wired connection for the best experience. Annoyingly this was all working fine for me and all of a sudden I started running into these issues. Contacted ISP they can’t do port forwarding from there end (Which is very strange), tried to do it myself not sure if I was successful but issue still persists. Have done reset on the console also to refresh the OS etc. and still no luck.

I’m having the same issue my Xbox series s all of a sudden it doesn’t connect to the network while it’s wired I checked the Ethernet cable and it works fine with other consoles so it’s not the Ethernet cable I don’t know what to do anymore

It could be due to the wifi. A wifi connection only allows so much bandwidth to go through. If both sons are playing multiplayer online it could be putting a strain on the signal. Especially if other people are using the internet as well. If possible,
try connecting one console to the modem with an ethernet cable to see if that helps the issue.
